Indoor Warning

Those who work or live in the 10-mile EPZ have been provided a NOAA All-Hazards Weather Radio. If you live or work in the EPZ, contact your local emergency management office to request a NOAA All-Hazards Weather Radio. The National Weather Service will broadcast special announcements via the NOAA weather radio system in the event an emergency occurs at the Pantex Plant which requires shelter-in-place or evacuation. Therefore, it is important to keep the radio turned on, in good repair, and the batteries in good condition. If you are told to evacuate, take the NOAA All-Hazards Weather Radio with you. Updated public information can be transmitted while you are enroute to your destination. The radio can continue to run up to 6 hours with fresh batteries.

Outdoor Warning

Outdoor warning sirens are located in heavier populated areas of the 10-mile EPZ near the DOE Pantex Plant. While these sirens are very loud they are only designed to be heard outdoors. In the event of an emergency, the outdoor warning sirens will be activated on a steady tone for 5 minutes. When sounded, you should immediately move indoors and listen to local radio or television stations for emergency warning information. Testing times vary between jurisdictions. If you are unaware of when the siren near you is tested, check with your emergency management office.
